sustainability

What is sustainable law?

Sustainable law is a new concept for law firms and as such, we consider ourselves the market leaders. As a whole, the legal profession uses vast quantities of a variety of resources, particularly paper.

At Daltons we are committed to using our resources in a manner consistent with a sustainable future in which adequate, healthy resources are preserved for future generations. Land use, forestry, air and water quality are all dependant on our doing so.

There are two distinct aspects to our brand of sustainable law. To begin with we looked at our own practice to ensure we were meeting the business needs of our clients without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, whether in relation to the provision of legal services or otherwise.

Having taken the time to understand sustainability, we applied our knowledge and understanding for the benefit of our clients. At Daltons, our priority is the provision of high quality legal advice to our clients. Our understanding of sustainability issues enhances the value we deliver to clients.

Let's look at both elements in greater depth.

So what about us?

We recycle paper by way of our secure shredding facility, where possible our purchases are made from suppliers who themselves value sustainability, we introduced an office waste reduction initiative, use double sided copying and printing wherever possible, we turn off lights in unused rooms and we program our electronic equipment to power down or switch to energy saving mode when not in use.

We run a plastic milk bottle top collection recycling scheme for the local community and we are designing and forming vegetable allotments in our Petersfield office garden for staff to collectively grow produce and share the results.

We keep our overheads down wherever possible to ensure we can continue to deliver a value for money service.

How does our sustainability add value to our clients?

We have an established base of clients committed to conducting their business on sustainable values. We are able to offer an all encompassing sustainable service within this sector, as well as to any other business or individual inclined to “go green” wherever possible.

Through investing time and effort at the outset, together we can help you avoid pitfalls, saving stress and money, not to mention valuable time at a later date. If disputes do arise, we have specialists on hand to help resolve your problems.

We have strong links with the sustainable sector and are involved with the national Greening Campaign as well as Greening Midhurst and the other Greening groups local to our Petersfield and Hayling Island offices. As such, we are always able to draw on expertise from other sustainable professionals with a view to making your transaction as profitable and as “green” as possible.
